Ok, this post might sound so lame. After all these times, I write about this song only now, Photograph by Ed Sheeran. I should’ve written about this like what, a century ago? *grin
I wrote about another song with Photograph as its title in early 2013. It was Jamie Cullum’s song. That song caught me for quite long time. Everytime I listened to this song, I was always taken aback and reminisce my old days. Tears used to roll involuntarily when I gave thought to its lyric. Especially for this part:
“When I look back on my ordinary-ordinary life. I see so much magic though I missed it at the time”
Life happens and I started to forget about this song. Many other new hits from so many singers. But there was none of them lingered long enough and became a tear-causing-lyric in a song. Well, I liked Taylor Swift 1989 enough so that I posted it in this blog though. *which because of it one of my friends called me a Swifties *Hahaha. Well, not until I really listen to Ed Sheeran’s Photograph.
There is this deep feeling towards this song. Its lyrics is so simple yet so deep. Well, at least for me who never have enough knowledge the tidbits about a song or a singer. How he describe why we keep photos of our loved ones really moved me. I even had this kind of moment: After I accompanied my wife to her office, I listened to this song. There was queueing in a free way gate so that I got a chance to listen very carefully to its lyric and gave a thought about it. The thinking brought me to feel very blessed and so happy to have my wife, my son, my parents and just simply everything.
My whole life flashed before my eyes.My precious
Comparing the two lyrics, Ed’s seems to be talking about current lifetime, how we see our relationship with our loved ones and how we want to preserve them or whatever our feeling in a photograph, while Jamie’s is talking about looking back in time through a photograph and reminisce the good old days. But both, in my opinion, try to bring us – well me to see our life in a more grateful way. That life is beautiful and full of magic. Our loved ones are the precious things in life.
We keep this love in a photograph || We made these memories for ourselves
Where our eyes are never closing || Hearts are never broken || Times forever frozen still
When I look back on my ordinary, ordinary life, || I see so much magic, though I missed it at the time
Oh, by the way, have you seen Ed’s Photograph official video clip?
Why do I make this post? I searched for Photograph and wanted to listen to Ed’s but then there were two of them in the search result. Ed’s and Jamie’s. Unfortunately, Jamie’s Photograph video clip is not as touching as Ed’s. Love it! the Photograph by Ed Sheeran.
